Douglas McGinness is an American filmmaker who works across the fields of music videos, internet media, art, and advertising. Having won multiple awards as both a creative writer and a new media director, Douglas is known for using character driven storytelling in chiefly visual fields – his first music video, a story-driven piece about an awkward man trying to seduce his crush with home-learned dance moves, won Duran Duran’s worldwide Genero.TV competition, becoming the official music video of their single, “Safe: In the Heat of the Moment” and launching Douglas’ career.
Douglas’ work has been featured by GLAAD, The Advocate, IndieWire, UpWorthy and ThinkProgress, and has screened and won awards at film festivals around the world including Cannes. He is currently in development on a feature film based off of his award winning short film The Epic of Hershey, starring Academy Award Nominee Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight, Inherent Vice, The Pope of Greenwich Village) and Meliki Hurd (Broadway’s Matilda). The feature is currently slated to begin production in 2017.
Douglas is basically a giant kid, and likes to make things that make the kid in him delighted.
